Jamaica Inn – a booktrail

I am so excited about seeing the BBC’s Jamaica Inn tonight! Wonderful book, here’s to hoping the mini series does it justice, cheers!

The book trail


To celebrate the BBC adaptation of a classic – Jamaica Inn, we decided to do a little booktrail of the novel and its setting. Cornwall  – Bodmin Moor where the Inn still exists is some place and to take a copy of Jamaica Inn with you –  you will definitely see the setting through Du Maurier’s eyes.

The story in a nutshell – 

Set in the late 19th century, 23-year-old Mary Yellan, who was brought up on a farm in Helford  is sent to live with her Aunt Patience and her husband at Jamaica Inn, on Bodmin Moor, Cornwall. Her mother has died and it is hoped that she will have a better life there.

    Hi! Thank you so much for the reblog! I wonder what you thought of the TV series which started last night. I so want to go back to Jamaica Inn but maybe not as it is depicted in the story. The book is still the best in my opinion but it really is a great gothic read . Would love to know your thoughts!
